One Year at 149 Mason: Arriving Home

by Ari Neulight, Clinical Program Manager, Glide Community Housing, 149 Mason Street Apartments

Recently, whether in conversation with our contractors, with staff, or with residents, I have heard the following words spoken:  “I can’t believe it’s been almost a year already.”  Yes, we at 149 Mason Street Apartments just celebrated our year anniversary on March 25.… and what a year it’s been!

For me personally, it has been a year about learning how, as a clinical manager, to begin to create a safe, healthy, and inviting community in collaboration with staff, residents, and our community partners.  For us staff, I think this year has been about journeying with residents in arriving home and beginning to vision around what’s next.  For all of us, this year has been about beginning to create a community in which we can acknowledge our individual and collective accomplishments, share our joys and sorrows, and are willing to learn from each other.

To honor our journey this past year, we hope to build on what we try to do every month, every day, and virtually all the time…CELEBRATE.  We want to mark this time, look at our successes together so far and share our aspirations for the future.  We are, and this truly is, something to celebrate!

Our Harm Reduction Team always needs people to help assemble safer injection kits. Distributing these kits to our community members who inject drugs greatly reduces the spread of Hep C and HIV. It's about #publichealth and recognizing the dignity and human rights of ALL people living in our city! #harmreduction #cleansharps
