This has been an incredible year for the GHS Recovery Program. In addition to holding 2 graduation ceremonies (our biggest accomplishment to date), we have received both local and national recognition for our efforts. In January the San Francisco Drug Court dubbed us as the Distinguished Service Provider of the Year. On July 11, GHS Director Patty Dennehy and I took the stage in Boston at the NIATx/SAAS National Conference as 2011 as iAward Recipients. You may be wondering what are all of those letters mean and what is an iAward? Here is a more detailed description. My condensed version: These two organizations are concerned with improving the delivery of addiction services across the nation.
Usually I’m pretty humble and am not one for bragging, but we ROCK! The current movement in healthcare is towards integrating primary care and behavioral health services, and using electronic health records. Who has been doing this stuff for years? GLIDE Health Services. We had the opportunity to display a storyboard describing our program in the exhibit hall. It was a really good feeling for representatives from agencies such as SAMHSA and other programs across the nation to give us kudos for the work that we do. One of the things that many people were fascinated by, was the fact that we are a Nurse Managed Health Center; surprisingly, some folks had never heard of such a thing.
I love working at GLIDE Health Services. We are creative, innovative, and passionate about the work that we do. I am privileged to work with such a great group of people!
