GLIDE Emerging Leader: Coty Lovelady

Get to know Coty Lovelady in this installment of GLIDE’s Emerging Leaders Internship profiles!

School & Major: Birmingham-Southern College, Religion (Major), Art (Minor)

What brought you to GLIDE? My college’s Hess Fellow program. I was interested in a faith-based, diverse, and inclusive organization.

What do you hope to contribute/learn during your time at GLIDE? I hope to bring with me a love for stories. I hope to gain an understanding of how GLIDE’s clients tell their stories through a visual exploration of the self and environment.

Which of GLIDE’s Core Values resonates with you most and why? Truth Telling. It is our collective narrative that reminds us of our humanity and allows us to love. Without stories we have no history, no spirituality, no humanity.

I wish …poverty was understood as a national issue, dealt with the entire society.

I hope …I make a difference in someone’s life this summer.

I am grateful… for GLIDE, the Tenderloin, and the storytellers in this community.
