Eye on the Ball: Places to be on Inauguration Day

glide-church-banner-archive-image

Welcome to Eye on the Ball! A new series of posts and reflections from me, GLIDE’s Advocacy Manager. I’ll be doing my best to keep you informed about GLIDE’s advocacy efforts as well as matters of concern to our community more generally. I’ll also offer practical suggestions about ways you can join us, get involved in the change we want to see in our community and in the world. Check here every other week for a new post.

This week’s inaugural post is aptly devoted to everything Inaugural—things happening on the day (tomorrow, January 20) and the day after. Right here, in our neighborhood, we’ll celebrate A Tenderloin Inauguration, and form a contingent to the San Francisco Women’s March. And that’s just the beginning. From DC to the TL, people are coming together to celebrate in resistance, under the banner of love and inclusion. We want you with us at any or all of our events! But there is much going on across the Bay Area. I hope you’ll find the following list useful. Let it bode well for a year of collective action to assure the rights and well-being of all people.

In peaceful resistance,

Ben

Seeing people as they are, rather than as we would like for them to be. And so that melded in my soul and in my life. And my pathway and my journey has been to say: I’m gonna be inclusive.” —Rev. Cecil Williams

Today we wish a very happy birthday to Rev. Cecil Williams, GLIDE's beloved Co-Founder and Minister of Liberation.
