Recovery Services

It’s beyond stopping the use of drugs and alcohol, RECOVERY is as an ongoing process to achieve a state of health and wellness. Meeting our patients where they are at, and allowing them to define their goals and priorities in the process, is what we do. We are partners working together to accomplish what they define as success.

Over the past 40 years, GLIDE has been on the front lines of major social and health issues afflicting San Francisco and other major urban centers: AIDS, the crack cocaine epidemic, violence and homelessness.  We embody a client-based approach to healing that engages the client to take an active role in planning and implementing personal goals for health and recovery.

On January 24, 2011 GLIDE Health Services Recovery Program was awarded “Distinguished Care Providers of the Year” by the Superior Court of California County of San Francisco Drug Court.

Recovery Services:

• Comprehensive individualized needs assessment
• Dual diagnosis services
• Physical exam
• Supportive medications available
• Smoking cessation
• Case management & referrals
• Group & Individual counseling

Recovery Services are available through GLIDE Health Services. We offer a  non-intensive 90-day outpatient alcohol, tobacco, and drug treatment program. We recognize that persons with substance use disorders may be affected by mental health issues, abuse, domestic violence, discrimination, a history of incarceration, poverty and homelessness, and that these are often linked to their use of substances. We offer comprehensive, culturally competent and trauma-informed support; our goal is to support an individual in their journey toward self-sufficiency and personal growth.

Services are provided by:
• Nurse Practitiones and Physicians
• Licensed Clinical Social Workers
• Substance Abuse Case Manager
• Peer Group Facilitators
• 90-day outpatient recovery program

"What is a free store? Its first principle is to give whatever can be obtained to those who will take. This means clothing, furniture, appliances, food. In a ghetto area where physical and emotional needs are critical, where American Opportunity is an outworn joke, where the ravages of racism are as real as the pavement, a free store means revolution." #FromTheArchives #ThisMonthInHistory #UnconditionalLove #GLIDEHistory #SFhistory #vintagephoto #throwbackthursday to #ColdWar-era GLIDE. #GLIDEforDisarmament #FromTheArchives #GLIDEHistory #disarmament #vintagephoto Today marks 72 years after the horrific bombing of #Nagasaki, Japan at the end of WWII. GLIDE remembers the thousands of innocent people who tragically perished in the initial atomic blast as well as the many more thousands who suffered the physical and psychological symptoms of radiation exposure for the rest of their lives: the mothers who lost their babies, the communities ravaged by increased rates of cancer, the elderly survivors who have developed new forms of leukemia and face great pain in their old age. .

We remember them. There are still a reported 15,000 nuclear weapons in the world today, but together, in community, we can continue to demand nuclear disarmament and a peaceful future for the generations to come. GLIDE envisions and fights for this future every day.
